COLLEEN SQUIRES
Board Member
I was born in Clarkston on 6/15/1955 where I attended the Clarkston schools and graduated in 1973. I am living in the house that my mother and father had built in 1958.
I was married in 1974 and had my own business; Colleen’s Answering Service in Pullman until 1976 when I went to work at DeChenne’s Marina as the Parts Manager. In 1981; I went to work at Trade Winds Marina as their bookkeeper and where I became involved in the first ever lighted boat parade for Christmas in 1985. This was my favorite accomplishment of any in my life.
I also worked Thill’s Jewelry and then for Brook’s Repair computerizing their accounts payable and receivable. I was on the Economic Development Committee for a few years representing the average family in decisions for businesses in our community. In 1999; I went to work for Colortyme as Manager of the Clarkston store. During my time with them; Colortyme became the #1 in the Colortyme system out of 336 stores nationwide. I loved working this position because of the customers. I became the one they called when a baby was born and the first one to call when someone passed away in their family. I believe it is the connection you create with people that will truly make or break you.
I retired in 2017 as my son was raising his daughter and needed my help. Currently; I am co-parenting and what a joy it is to spend retirement with family.
My basic belief in this life is if we learn to love and truly feel it in our heart; we will have learned what came here to learn.

Hello, my name is Laurie Hersey. I grew up in the LC Valley and graduated from Clarkston High School. I have spent the last 32 years as a special education teacher. The first two years I spent teaching on an Indian Reservation in Omak, Washington as a 3rd – 5th grade special education teacher. Most of my teaching career was spent in Walla Walla. I taught preschool to high school special education primarily with students that had autism. My last 5 years of teaching were done in Pullman as a 6-8 grade special education teacher. I am currently working at Asotin County Health District as their Outreach Specialist. During my very short time with the Asotin Health District, I have created a Senior Resource Guide. The guide has been created to help the seniors in the LC Valley access the various agencies and organizations that our valley has to offer.
I returned to the valley five years ago to help my 94-year-old mother stay in her home as she ages. I have one son who is an EMT /Firefighter reserve for the Lewiston Fire Department and 3 dogs.
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, camping, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, refinishing furniture and taking my dogs on hikes.
